I’m Joanna, craft hairdresser and the owner of HairDom by Jo, proudly serving The Woodlands and the North Houston area.

Born and raised in Poland, I’ve been living in US since 2014, and this studio represents a major step towards my “American dream”.

HairDom by Jo, was created to make you feel at home: welcomed, accepted as you are, and the most confident and capable version of yourself, that can go out and conquer the world!

Fun fact, the word ‘dom’ in Polish means ‘home/house’. When coming up with the name of my studio, I wanted to convey the essence of HOME, which I associate with comfort, relaxation and being able to be my rawest, truest self, while paying homage to my Polish heritage.

My hairdressing career started at the Aveda Institute Houston and I have been in the industry for 9 years. I’ve loved every second of it! My passion for haircutting is ever unfolding and changing. I take pleasure in challenging myself to explore different cutting techniques and approaches. From traditional precision to more free form, effortless and modern razor cutting. Combining techniques allows me to create unique, customized shapes that fit your lifestyle and personality – the truest reflection of who you are.

I believe that knowledge is power and that is why I am deeply committed to expanding my technical skill set on a regular basis. It allows me to expose myself to different points of view and forms of expression within the industry and connect with like-minded artists, who are devoted to the always evolving craft of hairdressing. I have sought this development through continued education with some of the most renowned hairdressing academies such as: Vidal Sassoon, Toni & Guy, Arrojo Academy NYC and L’oreal Professional.

Based on my observations, specifically post pandemic, there has been an increased need to address issues affecting scalp health and healthy hair growth. From increased and excessive shedding to oily, dry or itchy scalp - common issues I have been witnessing with my clients – I dug deeper into the sea of knowledge about hair and scalp diseases. That is why, apart from haircuts, I decided to implement scalp facials into my studio offering. Taking a closer look at the root cause of the prevailing issue will allow me to customize your in-salon scalp treatment and make proper recommendations for you to follow at home, so you can grow and enjoy the hair you were born with!

When I’m not behind the chair, I enjoy listening to personal development podcasts, reading and going on walks in nature. I truly believe that personal development is crucial in achieving longevity, happiness in life and having a successful career in any field. Most days when I’m not in my studio, you can find me in my garage gym, trying to get those endorphins going, reading, listening to podcasts and striving for 1% better every day to create my dream life. Keeping small daily promises to myself, practicing my craft, carving out time for self reflection...it all compounds for lasting results and a HAPPY, FULFILLED  LIFE!
